The only way to find out how your gear is going to work is to try it out and you don't have to go far to do this.
Your backyard is a great way to test your gear and find out what works and what doesn't. Like me most people like to carry more than you need.
This will let you know what you want to carry and what you don't. Some times you will pack a lot of things you don't need and that's a lot of  dead weight .
So camping close to the house will help you find out more about the gear you really need .some times just ride basics will be what you want to carry ln your bug out bag .the  best way to find that out is to test it out and your backyard is a great way to do this.
